In many ways 2017 has been the best year of both my business and personal life. The last few years I have been finding myself, as a person, as a wife, as a mother, as a business owner and as a photographer. I remember turning 25 and something shifted, I started to look at life different and I would take pieces from all of my experiences and store them in an invisible vault. By 27 my vault was overflowing and I needed to organize... I felt the ultimate shift because for the first time I accepted me for me and I fully embraced it, I stopped comparing myself and my life to others because we all walk our own path, I stopped apologizing for my work ethic and holding myself back, I learned when it was okay to be an overachiever and when it was okay to take a break. I allowed myself to be bolder, to do more, I felt like I opened my eyes to the world and that was really hard for a lot of reasons but my invisible vault with pieces of experiences continued to grow, I knew exactly what I loved, what I disliked, what I could tolerate, what I would cut out of my life without blinking an eye. By 29 all of those pieces fell together perfectly, all of my ideas were filed, my goals were reached and I had just the right amount of motivation and support. 2017 was perfection.
It's been almost 2 years since I quit my job as Project Manager at what was once my dream career. In the last 700 days I have grown to a place in my business I am very proud of. I have photographed 97 Weddings, 258 Portrait sessions, been published on 14 blogs and published in 4 magazines!!!! If I include second shooting I have been to over 120 weddings, that's a lot of love captured! This life of mine still feels surreal at times, to get to do what I truly love every single day is a blessing beyond words. I started my business without plans or expectations, I just loved capturing moments for couples and families, I had no idea I was on the fast track to being a full-time photographer. Thank you so much to every person who has ever booked me, you are the reason I am where I am today, you have pushed me to be better and given me the chance to do what I love. Thank you to my family and friends, sacrificing my weekends is hard because I miss a lot but I appreciate your constant love and support! Thank you to my network of photographers and small business owners, you are the backbone of my business, my shoulder to lean on, my saving grace whenever I need help, we may work for ourselves but you're the best "co-workers" ever! I am so excited for what 2018 has in store!
